Friday 24 October / Saturday 25 October saw the MLAGB 200 yard Rifle Championships plus the end of season matches for members of Long Range Rifles (LRR) Branch of the MLAGB. Shooting was at Bisley.
MLAGB matches were for muzzle loading target rifle and Enfield rifle, 200 yards, 10 shots each match. LRR had two competitions; the Rigby Cup for muzzle loading target rifle, and the Whitworth Cup for hexagonally bored Whitworth rifles. Each LRR match comprised 15 shots at 600 yards, fired prone with a sling the only permitted support.
Weather was mostly kind, albeit with a brisk, changeable, cold wind – just one rainy squall came through making it unpleasant for those shooting at the time. I was really pleased to win the Rigby Cup!
Saturday also saw the Long Range Rifles Annual Dinner and Prize Giving. A most enjoyable evening hosted by the London & Middlesex Rifle Association.
There’s a brief LRR report and results on their website, and the MLAGB results will appear on the Association site in due course.
