Inspired and assisted by the late De Witt Bailey and Bill Curtis, long in the research and writing, a new book on the firearms of Sir Joseph Whitworth is near to being published. The comprehensive and lavishly illustrated study is a collaborative work by David Minshall and Tom Rowe.
The recent emergence of two previously unrecorded prototype sporting rifles are the last additions to the book. These rifles have features not found on any other Whitworth rifle production, reflecting their early manufacture and at a time when initial Government trials were under way.
