Research Assistance Requested
Work has begun on a new title that will focus on the American Buffalo Hunt and the Sharps used in the harvest. The research team are now cataloging identified Sharps. They would appreciate receiving information about your “Sharps Buffalo Rifle,” especially, if you have a “Factory Letter” attesting to its use by a buffalo hunter. Most Sharps Model 1874 Sporting Rifles weighing 12 lbs. or more might qualify. Please send copies of the supporting documentation, including the rifles serial number. Pictures of your gun are welcome, and cell phone photos are fine.
The team would also like to receive clear copies of letters or correspondence on original letterheads, bills, or advertising by any Sharps western dealers, even if it doesn’t involve the sale of a Sharps rifle.
