It was good to see 20 members of the Long Range Rifles Branch of the MLAGB at Bisley on Saturday 26 October. Members traveled from throughout the UK, plus France and the Netherlands, and were joined by three guests from France who had been in the UK to compete in the MLAGB / AdF ‘Entente Cordiale’ match.

Mild temperatures, calm wind and only very light passing rain made for good shooting conditions, albeit a little dull at times – especially waiting on the gun smoke to disperse!

Friday was a practice day shooting at 300 and 500 yards. Saturday there were two 600 yard matches, the Rigby Cup and the Whitworth Cup – the former is for muzzle loading target rifles, and the latter only open to hexagonally bored Whitworth rifles.

John Whittaker had a good day, winning both the Rigby and Whitworth Cup, while the silver and bronze medals were spread amongst four members. The Whitworth match was very close – just one point separating first and third place, and one v-bull between first and second place! Full results, summary results for the year, and match winners and record scores can be found on the competitions page of the LRR web site.
